Intersectional Theology by Grace Ji-Sun Kim and Susan M. Shaw

Intersectional Theology is an amazing book that uses the authors own stories to demonstrate what intersectionality is. The authors talk about the history of intersectionality, and then apply it as a lens through which theology can be lived out. This is an amazing book that all theologians, pastors and Christians should read.

Bad Theology Kills by Kevin Garcia

In Bad Theology Kills, Garcia explores some of the toxic theology that has been perpetuated by the Church. They do a wonderful job looking at specific areas (like sex, hell and other areas of theology) and speaking truth to toxicity. While this book does contain some theologies that I would not agree with, this is a book that the Church has needed. Please note that this book contains strong language. I would not recommend this book if you get offended easily.

Single, Gay, Christian by Gregory Coles

This book follows the life of Gregory Coles, a gay Christian. Coles has searched the Scriptures and come to the conclusion that aligns with the traditional view of marriage. While this is not where I have landed, I do believe that Coles demonstrates the struggle of coming to terms with both your faith and sexuality.

Queer Theology: Beyond Apologetics by Linn Marie Tonstad

In her book, Tonstad beautifully describes what queer theology is and how we must go beyond mere queer apologetics. Queer Theology grapples with how queerness and Christian come together, using sex, money and death as some examples.

Changing Our Mind by David Gushee

Gushee is a Christian ethicist, and one of his most notable works is Kingdom Ethics. This book differs from Kingdom Ethics, and actually recants how he sees the ethics of homosexuality. This is an easy to read, straightforward text that presents the arguments for full inclusion.

Spiritual Friendship by Wesley Hill

This resource is a perfect resource for pastors, lay leaders and Church staff. Hill explores what friendship is, and how we have lost what it means to be a friend. He also explores how the Church needs to focus on the love that spiritual friendships can foster.

Washed and Waiting by Wesley Hill

Washed and Waiting is a well written resource by Wesley Hill. It combines theological reflection and pastoral care for those gay Christians who are walking the path of Celibacy. While I have come to a different theological conclusion than Hill, I firmly believe this resource will help those who are striving for celibacy.
